Obituary for Prof.Dr.iur. Jörg Rehberg

Many lawyers have studied with him or sharpened their criminal law and criminal procedural thinking on the basis of his textbooks and publications. Everyone else certainly knew our former legal counsel from television, which – like other media – often called him in to explain penal questions and to spread his pointed comments on current cases and decisions.

After his law studies at the University of Zurich Prof. Jörg Rehberg worked as assistant lecturer/scientific assistant/assistant professor. After his doctorate he worked at the District Court in Bülach and then for a couple of years in the front as District Attorney (today: State Attorney).

1969 he was appointed Professor for Criminal and Criminal Proceedings Law. During his career as a lecturer, which lasted almost thirty years, he wrote several textbooks. Since 1971 he also belonged to the Court of Cassation/Court of Appeal of the Canton of Zurich thus keeping close ties to praxis.

At our law firm Prof. Jörg Rehberg, who was also admitted to the bar, used to work as a legal advisor/consultant/lawyer and dealt with special questions and provided expert opinions in the area of Criminal and Criminal Proceedings Law.
